An Interview with Amrita Devi of Ayurveda Anytime
In the growing world of wellness and self-care, few voices resonate as authentically and profoundly as that of Amrita Devi, founder of Ayurveda Anytime. A trained Ayurvedic practitioner, functional nutritionist and plant-based chef, Amrita has dedicated her life to empowering women through the ancient science of Ayurveda. Her platform, Ayurveda Anytime, born amidst the global changes of 2020, has rapidly evolved into a sanctuary for women seeking to reconnect with their innate wisdom through the ancient practices of Ayurveda. I had the pleasure of speaking with Amrita about her journey, her inspirations, and her newest endeavour, the Sacred Vitality Club.
Amrita's story begins in the picturesque countryside of the UK, where her early connection with nature sparked a lifelong passion for holistic health. Her journey into wellness began as a personal trainer, but it was her travels to India that sparked a profound connection with Ayurveda. "It was in India that I rediscovered the magical and mystical side of life, which laid the foundations for Ayurveda Anytime," Amrita shares. Over the years, her path has been shaped by notable mentors like Vasant Lad and Myra Twairi, deepening her practice and understanding of holistic health.
Amrita’s transformative experiences with pregnancy and motherhood were pivotal, leading her to create Ayurveda Anytime. This online community offers courses that promise more than mere wellness—they aim to ignite a profound connection to one’s deeper self and to the natural world.
"Our philosophy at Ayurveda Anytime is about much more than temporary fixes. It’s about integrating the wisdom of Ayurveda into everyday life, making wellness attainable and understandable for everyone, at every stage of life."
What inspired you to create the "Nourish Your Nature" course, and what sets it apart from other wellness programs?
"Unlike many one-size-fits-all programs, Ayurveda recognises the unique needs of each person. I translate this ancient knowledge into clear, actionable steps. It's not just about theory - I want you to immediately incorporate seasonal eating and body-type-specific foods into your daily life. I'm passionate about making Ayurveda accessible and engaging. Whether you're drawn to start a new eating routine, eat more plants, or discover the power of mindful eating, I'll weave these practices into your journey, making real food and self-care a delightful adventure."
How do your courses address common challenges like time constraints and fear of trying something new, especially for women navigating their health journey?
"The courses can be broken down into manageable modules or lessons that can be completed in short bursts throughout the day, even if it's just 15-20 minutes. The emphasis is on providing practical tips and strategies that can be easily integrated into existing routines. No need for a complete lifestyle overhaul. The courses can encourage participants to begin with small, achievable goals, gradually building confidence and motivation."
What are the biggest barriers and challenges to people and their health? We all want to feel amazing, right?
"Sometimes, the path to vibrant health can feel like a minefield. Let's talk about some of the biggest roadblocks I see people facing is feeling stuck with information overload. We're bombarded with health advice online, in magazines, from well-meaning friends – it's enough to make your head spin! Sorting through fact and fiction can be paralysing, leaving you stuck and overwhelmed. Ayurveda gives you a time-tested concrete guide to eat according to your body type and biohacking activities that support your nervous system. It is a 360-degree life path where the aim is to live longer and in fact, prevent disease from forming. "
A Closer Look : The Interview
For someone new to Ayurveda, what advice would you give them on how to integrate Ayurvedic principles into their daily lives, starting with your courses?
"Absolutely! Here's some advice for those new to Ayurveda, including how my courses can be a helpful stepping stone:
-
Start with the Basics: Ayurveda can seem vast, so begin with understanding the three Doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) – mind-body types that influence your unique needs. My introductory course, "Understanding Your Dosha," is a great place to begin this exploration.
-
Embrace Daily Routine (Dinacharya): In Ayurveda, consistency is key. Establish a simple morning routine that supports your Dosha. This might include practices like tongue scraping, warm water with lemon, and gentle yoga – all covered in my course, "The Power of Dinacharya."
-
Mindful Eating: Food is medicine! Ayurveda emphasises eating seasonally, locally, and according to your Dosha. Learn how to identify foods that balance your unique needs with my course, "Ayurvedic Diet for Beginners."
-
Small Steps, Big Impact: Don't overwhelm yourself! Start with small, sustainable changes. Maybe it's incorporating a daily cup of herbal tea (like calming chamomile for Vata) or using Ayurvedic spices (like warming ginger for Kapha) in your cooking.
-
Explore Further: Once you're comfortable with the basics, delve deeper! My comprehensive course, 'The Foundations of Ayurveda,' provides a holistic approach to this ancient wisdom.
Remember, Ayurveda is a journey, not a destination. Be patient, listen to your body, and enjoy the process of creating a life filled with health and wellbeing!"
What upcoming courses or offerings can we look forward to from Ayurveda Anytime, and how do they continue to empower individuals on their holistic wellness journey?
"Imagine stepping into a world where you can ditch the overwhelm and finally listen to your body's whispers of wisdom. That's the magic of Ayurveda Anytime, and I'm thrilled to share what's brewing for our vibrant community! For many of us, diving into Ayurveda can feel daunting. Think of it like learning a new language – you wouldn't jump straight into Shakespeare, right? That's why I'm especially excited about our upcoming Sacred Vitality Club launching this June"
"It's explicitly designed for amazing women over 40 (like many of us), juggling careers, motherhood, and the ever-present desire for a little "me time." Think of it as your online haven for holistic health. We'll be diving deep into practical Ayurveda wisdom, focusing on food that nourishes your body and soul, and gentle practices to tame digestive woes. Remember those days of feeling like a human pretzel after a stressful week? This club is all about learning to listen to your body's unique needs and finding ways to create a life that feels balanced and vibrant."
With the launch of the Sacred Vitality Club and an expanding array of courses, Amrita's vision for Ayurveda Anytime is clear: to empower women to lead healthier, more balanced lives through the wisdom of Ayurveda. "Join us," Amrita invites. "Discover the power of your own sacred vitality. Let’s journey together towards a life of wellness, understanding, and joy." In the heart of every woman who participates, Ayurveda Anytime is more than just a platform—it's a movement back to nature, back to self, and forward to a healthful, vibrant future.
