What inspired your move to Mallorca and the creation of Manzanas y Peras?


“After enjoying family holidays in Mallorca for many years, it was our mutual love for art and enthusiasm for cooking that prompted our move to Pollença,” Caroline shared. “We fell in love with a small café with huge potential at the bottom of the Calvari Steps, and thus, Manzanas y Peras — Apples & Pears, a playful nod to the stairs — was born.”


How has your background influenced your approach to catering?


“As qualified designers, we value creativity and good presentation in all areas of our work,” Paul explained. “We have traveled throughout Spain, sampling the tapas of Seville, Madrid, and Barcelona, enjoying authentic paella in Valencia, and eating in the pintxos bars and Michelin-starred restaurants of Spain’s culinary capital, San Sebastian. By combining these influences and skills, we found Mallorca offered us a new adventure and a fresh challenge.”


What do you love about the island?


“It’s fantastic to have incredible scenery on our doorstep. To have the choice of a short drive up to the stunning Tramuntana mountains or down to the beautiful beaches & calas. We love to be able to dine ‘al-fresco’ for most of the year and enjoy the outdoor living with our children.”

From sit down dinner parties, to paella or party canapés, they’ve a menu to suit everyone. Even little foodies are taken care of with their delicious children’s menu.

When asked about future plans, Paul and Caroline revealed exciting new ventures. “We’re always looking for new challenges and ideas to grow our business, especially in the winter months when there are fewer tourists,” Paul said. “We have received many enquiries to cater for health, yoga, and business retreats on the island and have recently been asked to teach cooking courses in rural Andalucia next year—an exciting opportunity!”


In the quieter months, they continue to renovate their townhouse, with their most recent project being the creation of their wine cellar. “We also use this time to enjoy our art and design work. Prints of Caroline’s recent artwork will soon be available to buy from an art gallery in Pollença,” Paul added.
