Interview with Branding
& Creative Studio Founder
- Abbie Ting

In the bustling world of business, Abbie Ting stands out as a powerhouse of creativity and empowerment. As the founder of Abbie Ting Creative, she has carved out a niche by helping women in business thrive through innovative branding, creative marketing and business coaching / mentoring. We explore Abbie's background, the inspiration behind her business, and her unique approach to guiding female entrepreneurs.

Abbie Ting wears many hats: mother, wife, daughter, and business owner. "All roles I love and am grateful for, even though life can get very busy!" she shares. Her journey is one of evolution and adaptation, driven by a passion for creativity and a deep understanding of the challenges women face in business. Abbie's professional roots are in public relations, a field she thrived in during her early career in London. However, motherhood brought a shift in her priorities and interests.

What was the inspiration behind your business?

"When I became a mum, I decided to cherry-pick the bits I liked most from my career, and at that time, it was writing," she explains. This love for writing led her to work with various brands, and she became an early adopter of Instagram, using the platform to reflect her lifestyle in Mallorca.  "Ten years on, I had curated an Instagram to match my lifestyle, and many of my writing clients started asking me for Instagram and general branding advice. So, last year, I decided to upscale from just copywriting to offering a full creative studio to support clients with all their branding needs in business."

Who do you admire?

I really admire all mums both working and stay at home. Both roles come with their own set of challenges not just physically but also mentally and I think that really isn't recognised enough. I was only thinking this morning that motherhood should come with a salary and paid annual leave haha!  In business, I really admire another single, working, older mum, Trinny Woodhall - when I'm feeling a bit lacking in energy I just watch her and think come on Abbie if she can do it at almost 60, you certainly can!

What defines the way you do business?

Probably health and organisation are my two driving forces. Being healthy motivates me and keeps the creative ideas flowing whilst also giving me the strength mentally and physically (because this is so important in business). Organisation is key for everyone, my team, my clients and myself - if I'm organised and know what I'm doing and have systems in place then everyone else knows what to do too. It makes life and work enjoyable, rather than stressful.

How has your experience as a working mum influenced your approach to business and mentorship?

My experience has meant that hopefully I can fully relate to my clients and offer real, practical solutions as opposed to unachievable ideas. Working and having a family is a whole different ball game to working as a single person and so things like managing time constraints and avoiding burnout is key. As mums we are so used to trying to fit everything in and often take on too much so changing that mindset and helping mums to get back into work in a non-frantic way is something I really enjoy offering support with.

You mention guiding entrepreneurs to "new heights with confidence coaching." How do you address the unique challenges female founders might face in terms of confidence and self-belief?

Simply put and as with the rest of life, women thrive differently to men and obviously as a female entrepreneur myself,  I understand that. All females are not the same of course but there is definitely a common ground found amongst us when it comes to our fears and insecurities in business. Generally speaking, our sessions take clients back to basics to dig deep, understand themselves and discover what they really want and what might be holding them back. Many of my clients eventually find that their big insecurity, once dismantled and discussed, is really not so big after all and in many cases, solvable. Confidence coaching is a huge topic and has many different aspects to it depending on the person but it's something I truly believe in for it's life changing results.

What advice would you give to someone starting out?

Health and fitness first. Before any of the daydreamy business stuff such as making your logo look pretty or thinking up tons of great ideas. Being healthy and strong is a self perpetuating motivator in business - it will give you the ideas and the stamina to keep going. It's a great excuse to have balance and get away from your desk too.
